High Pathogenicity AI Suspected Case Confirmed at Duck Farm in Jinju, Gyeongnam
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 9th that a suspected case of highly pathogenic AI was detected at a meat duck farm located in Jinju, Gyeongnam. The farm has approximately 22,000 ducks. During the pre-shipment inspection by quarantine authorities, the H5 antigen was detected. A detailed examination is currently underway, and the determination of high pathogenicity is expected within 1 to 3 days.
The headquarters is implementing proactive quarantine measures including controlling access to the farm, conducting epidemiological investigations, restricting movement of farms within a 10km radius, and conducting surveillance and inspections.

An official from the headquarters urged, "All farm owners nationwide must strictly follow quarantine rules such as disinfecting vehicles, people, and equipment, and changing boots. If any abnormalities are detected in the poultry, please report immediately to the quarantine authorities."
