Bangtongwi, Personal Location Information Business Applications Accepted Until Next Month 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has prepared the '2021 Personal Location Information Business Permit Review Plan' and will conduct reviews four times in February, May, August, and November. The first application period is from Tuesday, February 2 to Tuesday, February 9.
According to the KCC on the 8th, Article 5 of the current 'Location Information Act' requires that any person intending to operate a business involving personal location information must obtain a permit from the KCC specifying the type of location information business, its content, and main facilities.
The permit review criteria include three categories: ▲ Validity of the location information business plan and appropriateness of financial structure (30 points), ▲ Appropriateness of the scale of facilities related to the location information business and technical capability (30 points), and ▲ Appropriateness of technical and managerial measures for protecting location information (40 points), totaling 100 points.
Applicant corporations must score at least 60 points in each review category and a total of 70 points or more. The KCC selects the final permitted corporations through deliberation and resolution for those who meet or exceed the criteria. To assist corporations wishing to apply, an explanatory session on how to prepare the permit plan will be held. To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the session will be conducted non-face-to-face via the On-Nara PC video conference on the 19th.
