[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Jeep announced on the 7th that it will unveil the 5th generation model of its large sport utility vehicle (SUV), the 'All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L.'
The global online unveiling of the All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L is scheduled to take place on the official YouTube channel at 8 a.m. Korea time on the 8th. The revamped Grand Cherokee is designed to offer much more legendary 4x4 capability, excellent and refined on-road performance, premium styling and craftsmanship in both interior and exterior design, and a combination of various advanced technologies and safety features. As a result, the 'All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L,' which can accommodate 6 to 7 passengers for the first time, has been introduced.
The state-of-the-art All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s interior and exterior are engineered to deliver unparalleled performance and driving dynamics. The well-known 4x4 systems of the Grand Cherokee, including Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II, as well as the Quadra-Lift air suspension and Selec-Terrain traction management system, enable Jeep brand’s legendary 4x4 capabilities.
Additionally, the use of a front virtual ball joint enhances lateral control, and the multi-link rear suspension improves ride comfort and everyday handling. The new variable-speed air suspension increases driving stability and ride comfort according to changing road conditions, continuously adjusting stiffness based on load status to further complement the vehicle’s legendary off-road capabilities.
Combined with a completely new structure and aerodynamically designed body style, this enhances vehicle performance, safety, and reliability while significantly reducing vehicle weight, noise, vibration, and harshness. It is also designed to maximize overall passenger comfort, providing spacious third-row seating and an enlarged cargo area.
The All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L is equipped with more than 110 safety and security features, including innovative technologies that refine the connectivity between the driver, vehicle, and road. These include functions that improve the driver’s visibility, make instrument devices easier to view, and support the driver with collision prevention and other assistance features.
The All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L is produced at the newly built Detroit Assembly Plant and will be available in four trims: Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. The second-row version of the All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee and the electrified 4xe model are scheduled for production starting at the end of 2021. Sales in the North American region are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2021, with a domestic launch planned for the second half of 2021.
