Jinju City Issues 10 Billion Won Early in ‘Jinju Love Gift Certificates’ to Revitalize Local Economy
Starting January 11, 10% Discount on 10 Billion Won, Significant Expansion of Mobile Gift Certificates
Expecting Local Economy Recovery through Activation of Contactless Payments such as Delivery Apps
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju-si, Gyeongnam Province, will proactively issue 10 billion KRW in paper Jinju Sarang Gift Certificates and 80 billion KRW in mobile certificates, totaling 100 billion KRW, at a 10% discount starting January 11 to revitalize the local economy struggling due to the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Jinju Sarang Gift Certificate was issued last year with 8 billion KRW to protect small business owners and activate the local economy by preventing capital outflow from the region.
This year, due to the spread of COVID-19, 25 billion KRW worth of certificates will be issued to promote non-face-to-face payments and to prepare for the delivery app linkage scheduled for launch in February.
Jinju City has proactively responded with economic measures such as three rounds of emergency support funds to save the local economy, which is in crisis due to COVID-19.
In addition to financial support, the city plans to actively respond to the changing distribution environment by introducing a Jinju-type public-private cooperative delivery app to strengthen the competitiveness of alleyway commercial districts and by revitalizing local gift certificates centered on mobile certificates.
The Jinju Sarang Gift Certificate can be purchased in two forms: paper and mobile. Paper certificates can be purchased at nearby Nonghyup branches (including NH Nonghyup Bank, Livestock Cooperatives, Wonhyup, and regional Nonghyup branches) by presenting an ID card and can be used at about 3,000 affiliated stores. The purchase limit is 300,000 KRW per person per month. Mobile certificates can be purchased through Zero Pay apps such as Beeple Zero Pay and All One Bank and can be used at about 7,000 affiliated stores.
