Seoul Gangseo-gu, Dream Start Child Home Visit Safety Education
Fire Prevention Education Along with Distribution of Home Fire Extinguishers and Child Masks... Monitoring for Childcare Gaps Concurrently
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dream Start child Kim ○○ said with a bright smile, "The teacher came and taught us what to do when a fire breaks out and gave us a fire extinguisher as a gift, so I think I can protect my home like the firefighters."
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will begin intensive safety management for Dream Start case-managed children starting from the 6th.
This is because the risk of safety accidents at home has increased due to more time spent at home because of COVID-19.
In particular, concerns about care gaps due to parental absence were identified, making meticulous management of children necessary.
Accordingly, the district decided to provide safety education and intensive monitoring for all 248 Dream Start case-managed children to protect them from safety accidents such as fires and to prevent care gaps.
This education will be conducted in a one-on-one individual format, where child integrated case managers visit each home directly instead of group education, to protect children’s safety from COVID-19.
The child integrated case managers will use videos and illustrated materials to teach children how to respond and evacuate easily in case of fire.
Also, in preparation for situations where children are left at home without guardians, one spray-type home fire extinguisher, which is easy for children to use, will be provided per household.
Along with this, education on proper handwashing methods and other daily quarantine rules will be conducted to prepare for COVID-19, and 25 quarantine masks per child will be distributed.
During the education, intensive monitoring will also be carried out, checking for care gaps and hygiene management status of the children.
If any crisis situations are discovered during monitoring, guardians will be advised through consultations, and if child abuse or neglect is suspected, measures such as reporting to related agencies will be taken.
For families in crisis, customized welfare services will be linked to ensure that no blind spots in care for vulnerable children occur, conducting thorough case management.
