View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Saeyan] Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 5th that it plans to implement a wider range of welfare policies for people with disabilities by investing a budget of 12.1 billion KRW this year to ensure the livelihood security of people with disabilities and their families.
First, the care services for people with disabilities will be expanded to those aged 65 and older. Additionally, the target recipients of the daytime care service for people with developmental disabilities will be expanded to discover more beneficiaries, and if service provision is reduced due to COVID-19, emergency activity support will be linked.
Starting in April, 10 additional diseases will be recognized as disabilities under 15 types of disabilities including mental, liver, and facial disabilities.
With the institutionalization of an exceptional disability recognition review procedure in the disability severity assessment, the expertise of customized counseling during disability registration will be strengthened.
To strengthen income security for low-income people with severe disabilities, the basic benefit amount for all recipients of the disability pension will be increased from 250,000 KRW to 300,000 KRW per month.
Furthermore, a membership system for the Mobility Support Center (call taxi) will be implemented for transportation-vulnerable people, including those with disabilities who have difficulty moving.
