Democratic Party Gwangju Branch Pays New Year's Visit to 5·18 Minjok Minju Martyrs' Cemetery
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee (Chairman Song Gap-seok) announced on the 4th that it paid respects at the Mangwol-dong National Democratic Martyrs' Cemetery in Buk-gu to mark the New Year.
This visit was held at the May 18 Old Cemetery with only Democratic Party members of the National Assembly from the Gwangju area attending, in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines and to prevent spread, symbolizing the commitment to uphold the "May spirit" and reaffirm promises made to the "Candlelight citizens."
The Old Cemetery is where the bodies of martyrs who lost their lives during the May 18 Democratic Uprising were first buried, and it is the resting place of numerous souls including workers and students.
