On the morning of the 4th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that Minister Jeon attended the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting on COVID-19, then visited the Central Disaster and Safety Situation Room to receive a report on the recovery status of the Jeju fishing boat capsizing accident and encouraged the staff on duty.
At the meeting, Minister Jeon emphasized, "Crises come without warning and do not occur sequentially," adding, "On one hand, we must respond to COVID-19, and on the other, to safety accidents. As complex disaster situations become normalized, strengthening the government's disaster response capabilities is more important than anything."
He also encouraged the situation room staff, saying, "Thanks to the tireless efforts of the situation room workers for the safety of the people, citizens can live more comfortably and safely," and urged them, "Take pride in protecting the lives and safety of the people on the front lines and stay strong."
