[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] CJ Group announced on the 4th its determination to achieve a paradigm shift through thorough structural reform across all business areas in the Year of the Ox, and to leap forward as a global top-tier company based on this.
Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik urged in his 2021 New Year's address that unprecedented crises must be overcome and that new innovation and challenges need to be further strengthened for future sustainable growth and development.
Chairman Sohn diagnosed the current status of the group by stating, “The pandemic has revealed that our group has not yet established structural competitiveness based on super-gap capabilities to overcome external shocks,” and predicted, “The business environment this year will not be easy.”
He continued, emphasizing that to overcome the rapidly changing business environment, “2021 should be an opportunity to achieve a paradigm shift through innovative growth by securing top talent, super-gap capabilities, and strengthening the foundation for future growth, and to leap forward as a global top-tier company.”
To this end, CJ Group plans to share and implement the ‘Paradigm Shift Management Policy’ company-wide throughout the year. Specifically, this includes ▲leading the market through ‘disruptive innovation’ based on the OnlyOne spirit for innovative growth, ▲building and strengthening structural competitiveness with super-gap core capabilities that global competitors cannot challenge, and ▲focusing on nurturing and securing top talent and establishing a global top-tier culture of challenge and innovation.
In particular, Chairman Sohn emphasized the importance of employees' roles in the group's growth beyond the current crisis. He urged, “All employees must be armed with will, urgency, and responsibility, and become top talent in their respective positions and roles.”
