Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Visits Low-Income Families on New Year's First Schedule to Deliver Hope
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, visited low-income families as his first schedule of the new year to deliver hope.
On the 3rd, as his first step of the new year, Governor Kim visited a low-income foster family in Samho-eup, Yeongam, stating, "We will do our best to support all children in the province so that they do not lose their dreams due to poverty."
The visited household is one where a grandmother is raising two children alone, and one of the children suffers from a severe disability, causing difficulties.
Governor Kim is known to have taken this step to encourage the children to live with hope and grow into future talents of Jeollanam-do.
He also listened to the children's future aspirations and the grandmother's difficulties.
Yoon, a high school sophomore, said, "I will not lose courage and will quietly work hard for my dreams," adding, "After entering university and getting a job, I will take good care of my grandmother and my disabled younger sibling and live a life that helps those in need."
Governor Kim encouraged, "Children are indeed the assets of Jeollanam-do and the driving force that will lead the region," and said, "Success is not necessarily being number one, but finding what you want to do, doing your best, and living joyfully."
He especially stated, "We will spare no detailed support for families living in hardship," and "We will actively work so that all children in the province do not lose their dreams because of poverty."
Currently, 962 children are being raised in foster care by grandparents, relatives, or general families within Jeollanam-do.
