Seoul Reports 197 New Cases Yesterday... First Time Below 200 in a Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul has dropped below 200 for the first time in over a month.
As of midnight on the 3rd, Seoul city reported 197 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cumulative cases in the city to 19,809.
This is the lowest daily number since December 1 of last year, when Seoul recorded 193 new cases. The number of confirmed cases in Seoul exceeded 200 on November 25 last year, then surpassed 300 on December 11, 400 on December 16, and peaked at 552 on December 24. The daily cases remained above 300 until the end of the year, then dropped to 250 on January 1.
Among the new cases reported on this day, 15 were related to a nursing facility II in Yangcheon-gu (cumulative 32), 6 from a residential facility for the disabled in Songpa-gu (cumulative 71), 5 from nursing hospitals and nursing homes in Guro-gu (cumulative 205), 2 from nursing facility I in Yangcheon-gu (cumulative 40), and 2 from an elderly facility in Dongdaemun-gu (cumulative 38).
Other cases include 90 from contact with confirmed cases, 21 from contact with confirmed cases in other cities or provinces, 2 imported cases, and 50 cases under investigation for infection routes.
There were also 3 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 189. So far, 11,521 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 8,099 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
