7 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Gwangju...Total Confirmed Cases Reach 1,118
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seven additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Gwangju, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,118.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 2nd, seven people tested positive in the morning and were newly registered as cases 1112 to 1118.
Case 1112, a resident of Nam-gu, is related to the recently spreading Doctor Sports Club cluster.
Cases 1113 and 1114 are family members living in Nam-gu, but their infection routes have not yet been identified.
Case 1115, a resident of Seo-gu, was confirmed to be related to Jeonnam case 479. Jeonnam case 479 is a contact of Jeonnam case 475, whose infection route is still unknown.
Case 1116, a resident of Naju City, had contact with Gwangju case 1103, who was confirmed positive the day before. The infection route of case 1103 is also under investigation.
Cases 1117 and 1118 are both residents of Gwangsan-gu. They were classified as contacts of cases 1101 and 1102, respectively, who were confirmed positive the previous day. Both 1101 and 1102 are confirmed cases with infection routes currently being identified.
Meanwhile, there are 35 confirmed cases directly related to Evergreen Silver House (nursing home), 2 cases from secondary infections, and 25 cases related to a sauna visited by confirmed patients, totaling 62 confirmed cases. Regarding Gwangju Cheongsa Church, 42 cases have been confirmed, and related to the Doctor Sports Club, a total of 23 cases have been confirmed, including 4 club members and 19 acquaintances.
Recently, in the Gwangju area, family transmission has been increasing, with 40 cases occurring in 17 families over the past week.
