In his New Year's address for 2021, the Year of the Ox (辛丑年), Floor Leader Joo said, "This year has been a difficult one for all our people."
He stated, "The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has turned ordinary daily life into memories and deepened worries due to the economic crisis. A rapid transformation is expected across all sectors of society, dividing the era into before and after COVID-19." He expressed gratitude, saying, "Alongside the dedication of frontline medical workers combating the pandemic, the great strength of our people has been demonstrated in overcoming this unprecedented crisis."
He added, "Although the National Assembly, the hall of public opinion, should take the lead in overcoming the crisis and preparing for Korea's future, it has fallen short of the people's expectations. As the floor leader of the main opposition party, I feel a strong sense of responsibility."
