[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) wrapped up its work for the year on the 31st with a year-end closing ceremony.
The ceremony was held as a video event with only a minimal number of attendees, including Mayor Heo Seok and senior officials, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
At the ceremony, Mayor Heo awarded certificates of commendation to outstanding and exemplary public officials and recognized departments selected for the top 10 news stories that highlighted Suncheon, encouraging the dedication of related public servants.
In his year-end address, Mayor Heo said, “This year was a difficult and painful journey as COVID-19 took away all aspects of daily life. Thanks to the 280,000 citizens of Suncheon who adhered to quarantine rules and endured the long period, as well as the public officials who silently persevered despite heavy workloads, we have gained new hope with the approval to host the second expo in 2023 and Suncheon’s rise as one of the three major cities in Honam.”
