Gas Safety Corporation Establishes 'Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute'... Organizational Restructuring

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 30th that it has reorganized its structure, including the establishment of the 'Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute,' a dedicated organization for hydrogen safety management.
The Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute, established in accordance with the government's 'Comprehensive Hydrogen Safety Management Plan' and the 'Act on the Promotion of Hydrogen Economy and Hydrogen Safety' (Hydrogen Act), is an expanded reorganization of the 'Hydrogen Safety Center' formed in January. It will operate with five departments specializing in different safety management areas, up from the previous two teams.
Following this reorganization, a total of about 80 personnel, including 34 at the Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute and 42 in hydrogen safety research and education, will be exclusively responsible for hydrogen safety management tasks.
The corporation also formed an 'Accident Investigation Team' divided into six regional zones nationwide to respond to the golden time of gas accidents.
Additionally, the existing Chemical Substance Safety Center has been expanded and reorganized into the 'Chemical Substance Safety Department.' A total of 63 personnel will be assigned to ensure the thorough execution of statutory inspections on facilities handling hazardous chemical substances.
