[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 31st that it applied for various public contest projects this year and was selected for 57 projects, achieving a total project cost of 65.7 billion KRW.
This result is an increase of 10 projects and about 10 billion KRW compared to last year. Gokseong-gun expects that once the public contest projects are fully underway, local liquidity will ease, and the convenience of residents and economic revitalization will improve due to the effects of the projects.
Among the selected projects, notable is the ‘Seokgok-myeon Urban Regeneration New Deal Project’ worth 13.6 billion KRW, which was selected for the first time at the myeon (township) level after a setback in 2019.
The Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, carried out under three themes including the establishment of the Seokgok Black Pig Center, aims to revive Seokgok-myeon as it was thriving in 1973.
During the application preparation process, 40 residents’ meetings were held, drawing out residents’ participation and enthusiasm, which raises expectations for the successful progress of the project.
In addition, projects selected include the pilot project to strengthen the health and welfare delivery system (550 million KRW), the vulnerable area living condition improvement project (Geunchon Village, Samgi-myeon) (1.65 billion KRW), the basic living base project (Gyeom-myeon district) (4 billion KRW), the fine dust blocking forest creation project (3 billion KRW), the leading forest management complex project (7.5 billion KRW), and the Gokseong old water purification plant maintenance project (16.9 billion KRW).
