Nationwide HACCP Survey of 193 Slaughterhouses and Milk Collection Centers: 8 Slaughterhouses Require 'Reevaluation'
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs conducted an investigation and evaluation of the operation level of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification standards at slaughterhouses and milk collection centers nationwide, resulting in 8 slaughterhouses and 1 milk collection center being diagnosed as requiring improvement and subject to 're-evaluation.'
On the 29th, the Ministry reported that out of 193 slaughterhouses and milk collection centers surveyed and evaluated nationwide from May to October this year, 8 out of 134 slaughterhouses (6%) were subject to 're-evaluation' due to the need for improvement. The remaining 126 slaughterhouses (94%) were found to be compliant. Among a total of 59 milk collection centers, 58 (98%) were compliant, while 1 (2%) was classified as requiring 're-evaluation.'
Slaughterhouses and milk collection centers subject to re-evaluation are notified to the relevant city or province authorities, which then conduct re-evaluations to improve and manage the HACCP operation levels.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and consumer organizations selected 10 best slaughterhouses and milk collection centers, including top and excellent workplaces, and 2 local governments as HACCP Best facilities, awarding the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Prize. Among the top workplaces, Minsok LPC was selected for mammalian slaughterhouses, Chamfre for poultry slaughterhouses, Namyang Dairy Products Cheonan New Plant for milk collection centers, and Gyeongsangnam-do for local governments.
