[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] In Gwangju Metropolitan City, 8 new confirmed cases were reported, including 6 people who tested positive at a temporary screening clinic that started operating on the 27th to identify asymptomatic infected individuals, and 2 related to Evergreen Nursing Home.
According to Gwangju City on the 29th, as of midnight the previous day, 8 additional confirmed cases were classified as Gwangju cases 1057 to 1064.
Thus, 15 confirmed cases were reported in one day on the 28th, increasing the total confirmed cases to 1,064.
Gwangju cases 1057 to 1062 were confirmed positive after anonymous testing at the temporary screening clinic installed in front of Gwangju City Hall on the 27th. Six asymptomatic and latent infections were identified within just two days of operation.
At the temporary screening clinic, anyone can receive an anonymous nasopharyngeal swab PCR test to quickly detect asymptomatic and latent infections.
Among them, Gwangju cases 1057 and 1059 were investigated to have infection routes linked to Gwangju Cheongsa Church.
The infection routes for Gwangju cases 1058 and 1060 to 1062 have not been identified.
