Yongsan District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun Receives 20 External Awards This Year... Certified as a 'Competent District Mayor'
Five Ministerial-Level Awards... Achievements in Welfare, Education, Culture, Development, Safety... Public Institution Integrity Evaluation Receives Highest District Grade
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) recorded 20 awards from external organizations this year.
First, ministerial-level awards include ‘2020 Excellent Case Contest for Local Internationalization (Minister of the Interior and Safety)’, ‘2nd Urban Regeneration Industry Expo Grand Prize (Minister of the Interior and Safety)’, ‘2020 Excellent Performance in Local Non-Tax Revenue Management (Minister of the Interior and Safety)’, ‘2019 Second Half Local Finance Rapid Execution Performance Evaluation Contest Best Award (Minister of the Interior and Safety)’, and ‘2020 Living SOC Contest Encouragement Award (Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination)’.
In particular, the district summarized the achievements of the 25-year international exchange project with Quy Nhon City, Vietnam, under the theme ‘Yongsan-gu - Quy Nhon City International Exchange Leading the Global Economy!’ and won the top prize at the 2020 Excellent Internationalization Case Contest hosted by the Korea Association of Governors.
Additionally, the district received the highest grade among autonomous districts in the ‘7th Local Government Mayors’ Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation’ hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters and the ‘2020 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation’ hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. It also received awards such as the ‘2020 Korea Land Grand Prize Korean Urban Design Society President’s Award’, ‘World League for Freedom and Democracy Freedom Award’, ‘2020 Korea Future Management Grand Prize Local Government Division Grand Prize’, ‘1st Korea Constitutional Award’, and ‘Public Document Proper Writing Local Government Award’.
Seoul City hosted awards include ▲2019 Comprehensive Tax Collection Field Evaluation ▲2019 Local Tax Source Discovery Field Evaluation ▲2020 Smoking Cessation City Seoul Project Performance Evaluation ▲2020 Land and Cadastral Management Work Evaluation, which are also notable achievements.
The district stood out in various fields such as welfare, education, culture, development, and safety.
A district official said, “Due to the COVID-19 situation this year, evaluations of joint projects between the city and autonomous districts were canceled, resulting in an overall decrease in the number of awards from external organizations. Nevertheless, we express our gratitude to the public officials who achieved balanced results and the residents who helped.”
The district encouraged related public officials by awarding prize money worth 400,000 to 800,000 KRW to eight departments that achieved major awards this year.
