View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] A highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been confirmed at a meat duck farm in Gurye, Jeollanam-do.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza (CDSCH) announced on the 27th that, following the detection of H5 antigens at the farm during a regular inspection by quarantine authorities on the 24th, a detailed examination confirmed it to be the highly pathogenic H5N8 strain. The CDSCH decided to carry out preventive culling of poultry within a 3 km radius of the farm, restrict movement of poultry farms within a 10 km radius for 30 days, and conduct comprehensive inspections.
All poultry farms in Gurye, the affected area, will have movement restrictions for 7 days.
