Gwangju City, Joint Inspection of Special Measures to Strengthen Quarantine During Year-End and New Year Period

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 27th that on the 26th, a joint on-site inspection was conducted by the city, district, and police during business closing hours as part of the ‘Year-end and New Year Enhanced Quarantine Special Measures.’
Gwangju formed four joint inspection teams and, over two days starting from the 26th, inspected high-risk facilities and multi-use facilities where quarantine rules have been significantly strengthened according to the government’s year-end and New Year special quarantine measures. Facilities found in violation will face fines of 3 million KRW for operators and 100,000 KRW for users.
This inspection was carried out to check the implementation status of the enhanced quarantine measures for the year-end and New Year, to urge hygiene businesses around the Sangmu district to comply with business hours, and to listen to the difficulties faced by business operators.
In particular, the inspection focused on ▲ compliance with the ban on gatherings at entertainment facilities such as nightclubs ▲ adherence to business hours at restaurants and cafes ▲ reservation limits within 50% of rooms at lodging facilities, prohibition of exceeding room capacity, and ban on parties ▲ enforcement of mandatory mask-wearing.
Earlier, Gwangju implemented an administrative order banning gatherings on the 23rd in line with the government’s year-end and New Year enhanced quarantine special measures and the recommendation to prohibit private gatherings of five or more people, effective from midnight on the 24th until midnight on January 3rd next year.
The main points of the enhanced quarantine special measures include ▲ prohibition of private gatherings of five or more people at restaurants and cafes ▲ ban on gatherings at five types of entertainment facilities, sledding hills, skating rinks (ice rinks), party rooms, and group sports activities ▲ restaurants and cafes allowed only takeout and delivery from 9 PM ▲ suspension of operations at bathhouses, karaoke rooms, and cinemas from 9 PM to 5 AM the next day ▲ lodging facilities must limit reservations to within 50% of rooms and prohibit parties and events.
