According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 27th, three people tested positive in the COVID-19 diagnostic test on this day and were newly registered as cases 1038 to 1040.
Case 1038 is a resident of Bangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, and the route of infection has not yet been identified.
Cases 1039 and 1040 were classified as contacts of case 418 in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul (related to the G3 Center sermon) and tested positive in a pre-release test during self-quarantine.
On this day, the sixth death in Gwangju occurred, which is the 815th nationwide.
The deceased was a woman in her 80s residing at Evergreen Silver House (nursing home), confirmed positive on the 21st, who passed away at 10:27 a.m. on this day. Cremation will be conducted first, followed by the funeral.
Deaths due to COVID-19 in the Gwangju area have occurred once each on July 16, July 19, September 11, December 21, December 25, and December 27.
Regarding Gwangju Cheongsa Church, where recent cluster infections have been spreading, 32 people have tested positive since the 24th.
Meanwhile, to find hidden confirmed cases and prevent further spread, Gwangju City is operating a temporary free screening clinic at the Gwangju City Hall Plaza (outdoor music hall) from 1 p.m. on this day.
