Intops Applies New Technique to Real Carbon Material Spoiler... "Adopted by Hyundai Motor and Mass Production"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Intops announced on the 23rd that a real carbon material spoiler, developed jointly with the client using a new process, has been adopted and is in mass production for Hyundai Motor Company's new series, the N-line Performance product line.
Hyundai Motor Company's N-line Performance series was launched targeting consumer demand for high-spec models differentiated from regular models by upgrading performance and design of existing models.
The real carbon material used in the spoiler is a material that maximizes the luxury and sportiness of the vehicle. It is adopted and used in high-performance vehicles of domestic and international automakers.
Since 2016, Intops has established an R&D organization for real materials and has been promoting the development of new technology processes in the CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) field. The real carbon material spoiler applies the world's first post-processing technology jointly developed by Hyundai Motor Company and Intops.
The existing post-processing of real carbon products uses a spray coating method. The new process applies a liquid injection molding process, allowing surface treatment of the carbon product to be completed simultaneously with injection inside the mold. In particular, it has the advantage of significantly improving quality and reducing process time while protecting the surface of the real carbon material and expressing a high-gloss finish.
Intops plans to diversify the application parts including interior materials and expand the adopted models using the newly applied process.
Meanwhile, Intops is pursuing a vision to grow as a global CMF leading company through various R&D efforts. CMF is a technical term referring to the three important elements designers consider when creating products: Color, Material, and Finish. Last October, Intops opened Hidalab, a specialized online CMF library, and inaugurated a CMF exhibition hall at its headquarters in Anyang.
Through this, Intops proposes various material and related process technology trends to client product designers and provides services to apply them to actual mass-produced products. Additionally, based on its long manufacturing capabilities, Intops has the advantage of offering an all-in-one service from selecting various materials and process technologies to prototype production and mass production solutions.
