Gurye-gun Urban Regeneration New Deal Project Selected as 'Rural Urban Regeneration Gurye Living with Samdaesammi'
Total Project Cost of 53.7 Billion KRW Including 27.1 Billion KRW Seed Funding Over 5 Years
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Seo Dong-yong, Member of the National Assembly (The Democratic Party of Korea, Jeonnam Suncheon-si, Gwangyang-si, Gokseong-gun, Gurye-gun (Eul)), announced on the 22nd that Jeonnam Gurye-gun was finally selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '3rd Urban Regeneration New Deal New Project of the Year.'
In this public contest project, Jeonnam Gurye-gun proposed a plan linking the cultivation of local specialized industries, recovery of rural city competitiveness, community revitalization, residential welfare, and modernization of the 5-day market through a project utilizing Gurye's specialized resources represented by the three greats (三大) of Jirisan, Seomjingang, and wide fields, and the three beauties (三美) of beautiful scenery, abundant harvests, and generous hospitality, which led to its selection.
Over the next five years, a seed budget of 27.1 billion KRW, including 15 billion KRW in national funds, will be invested in the area around the 5-day market in Gurye-eup, Gurye-gun, Jeonnam, and a total of 53.7 billion KRW will be invested through local governments, inter-ministerial cooperation, public enterprise investment, and funds. Through this, it is expected to not only facilitate the rapid recovery of areas damaged by the recent heavy rains but also inject new vitality into the entire city.

Assemblyman Seo Dong-yong said, "The selection of Gurye-gun's urban regeneration new deal project is an achievement made possible by the joint efforts of local residents, Gurye-gun, and related organizations," and expressed his determination, saying, "Since the efforts so far have borne good fruit, I will do my best to help this project bring new vitality to the entire region that was depressed by the summer floods."
