Micro Electric Vehicles for Socially Vulnerable People Run in Eunpyeong
Masta Motors Supports Six Ultra-Compact Electric Vehicles Through Business Agreement with KSTM... Providing Public Mobility Services for Transportation-Disadvantaged Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has signed a business agreement with related companies to promote public sector mobility support services using ultra-small electric vehicles, an eco-friendly and future transportation means, and has begun demonstration services.
On the 21st, Eunpyeong-gu signed a business agreement for the 'Ultra-small Electric Vehicle Demonstration Project' with Master Motors and KSTM, and provided vehicles to related organizations for public sector mobility support services.
This demonstration project is being conducted to carry out the 'Public Sector Mobility Support Service' task of the 'Demonstration Project for Fostering the Ultra-small Electric Vehicle Industry,' supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
Ultra-small electric vehicles are eco-friendly vehicles that emit almost no pollutants during operation and are free from noise issues, attracting attention as a new future transportation means. They can be easily charged with a 220v household outlet and can run about 100 km on a single charge, offering convenience as well as very low maintenance costs, making them economically advantageous.
Six institutions, including the Eunpyeong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, will receive six ultra-small electric vehicles?Master Van and MyEV models?to provide mobility support services for transportation-vulnerable groups.
The welfare facilities participating in the demonstration project perform various community protection services such as free meal delivery and vehicle accompaniment services for elderly people with mobility difficulties. They frequently visit sites to discover various case management opportunities. However, since the residences of the service recipients are mainly located in highland or transportation-disadvantaged areas, it has been difficult to access these areas with the existing vehicles operated by the facilities due to narrow alleyways, posing challenges to service implementation.
At a time when social interest in transportation-vulnerable groups and the demand for securing mobility rights are steadily increasing, it is expected that supporting ultra-small electric vehicles will facilitate the smooth promotion of existing mobility support services, thereby improving transportation convenience for vulnerable groups and providing high-quality welfare services.
