Hanwha Group Donates 3 Billion KRW for Neighborly Love Fundraising
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group will donate 3 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea's 'Hope 2021 Sharing Campaign.'
To overcome the difficult domestic and international economic situation caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to support socially vulnerable groups who urgently need warm help more than ever due to the normalization of social distancing, major affiliates such as Hanwha Total, Hanwha Life, and Hanwha Solutions participated.
Hanwha Group has been participating in the Community Chest of Korea's 'Hope Sharing Campaign' since 2003. Starting with a donation of 300 million KRW in the first year, it has steadily participated every year, donating a total of 42.3 billion KRW to date.
The donations made to the 'Hope 2021 Sharing Campaign' will be used to support people with disabilities, low-income and marginalized groups, and social welfare facilities. Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon emphasized the role of companies in economic, social, and environmental sustainability in his 68th anniversary speech last October, calling for company-wide ESG management, social contribution, and win-win cooperation.
To this end, Hanwha Group is engaging in various activities to participate in overcoming COVID-19 and fulfill corporate social responsibility. In February, when Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions were designated as special management zones, Hanwha Corporation and Hanwha Solutions donated 150,000 masks. Hanwha Total also delivered 10,000 masks, 2,400 protective suits, and 2,000 hand sanitizers to Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do, where its business site is located.
Recently, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and winter flu, 10,000 personal hygiene kits consisting of masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfectant wipes were produced. Seven social volunteer groups from Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha Life, and others delivered these kits to 10,000 socially vulnerable households having difficulty purchasing personal hygiene products through about 20 welfare institutions with which they have sisterhood ties.
Additionally, to help resolve the shortage of hospital beds caused by the resurgence of COVID-19, Hanwha Life Park training center located in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, has been provided again as a Gyeonggi-do residential treatment center since the end of last month, following the initial provision in March.

Hanwha Solutions and Hanwha Hotels & Resorts also participated in the Flower Bucket Challenge to support flower farms.
