CU Partners with 'Jjin Gyeonggyu' to Release 'Angry Convenience Store' Episode
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Convenience store CU announced on the 17th that it has partnered with KakaoTV original variety show "Jjin Kyung-gyu," planned and produced by Kakao M, to release the "Angry Convenience Store" episode featuring Lee Kyung-gyu working night shifts at a convenience store.
"Jjin Kyung-gyu" is a program starring Lee Kyung-gyu, who has 40 years of experience in variety shows. The "Jjin Kyung-gyu Angry Convenience Store" episode reconstructs absurd episodes directly experienced by convenience store part-timers that recently went viral online. Transforming into a night shift convenience store worker, Lee Kyung-gyu donned the CU uniform and received basic training on customer service terms, POS transactions, and disposal of expired products before immediately starting work at the store. The broadcast candidly portrayed Lee Kyung-gyu navigating awkward situations encountered during his shift with his characteristic wit and humor.
The reason CU is expanding its customer touchpoints across various video platforms, from YouTube and TikTok to KakaoTV, is to naturally promote its brand and products by utilizing content tailored to the MZ generation, the main customers of convenience stores.
Since short video content under 10 to 20 minutes with fast pacing and humor codes is gaining great popularity among the MZ generation, CU is collaborating with these platforms to diversify the formats and stories of its content.
