Opening of Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Centers Nos. 10-13 in Guro-gu
4 Locations Including Oryu 2-dong, Cheonwangsup, Onsu-dong, Hang-dong Open... Expected to Fill Elementary After-School Care Gaps... Universal Care Services Provided Regardless of Income... Emergency Care Also Available in Response to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) has opened the 10th to 13th Our Neighborhood Care Centers in the area.
On the 17th, Guro-gu announced, "To ease the childcare burden for dual-income families, we have newly opened four Our Neighborhood Care Centers in Oryu 2-dong, Cheonwang Forest, Onsu-dong, and Hang-dong."
Our Neighborhood Care Centers are an after-school care program for elementary students conducted in cooperation between Seoul City and autonomous districts. They provide universal and continuous care services regardless of parents' income levels.
So far, Guro-gu has been operating nine Our Neighborhood Care Centers in Sindorim-dong, Guro 1, 2, 3, and 5-dong, Gocheok 1 and 2-dong, Gaebong 3-dong, and Cheonwang-dong.
The newly opened Oryu 2-dong Care Center is located on the 2nd floor at 27 Seohaean-ro 24-gil, the Cheonwang Forest Care Center on the 1st floor at 1102-6 Ori-ro, the Onsu-dong Care Center on the 2nd floor at 875 Buil-ro, and the Hang-dong Care Center on the 2nd floor at 4 Hangdong-ro 3-gil. All centers recently started operations without opening ceremonies due to COVID-19.
The centers provide basic care activities such as homework assistance and sending children to academies, as well as various programs including reading, art, and physical education.
Operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the school term, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during vacations.
Emergency care is also provided to address care gaps caused by COVID-19.
Residents who wish to use the service can apply through the Our Neighborhood Care Portal website.
