Gimhae City Sets Sail with Favorable Winds to Revitalize Social Economy
Opening of Social Enterprise Growth Support Center for Full-Scale Assistance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, has become the first in the nation to attract the Social Enterprise Growth Support Centers, which are separately established in Gimhae and Jinju, and officially opened them on the 15th.
The centers provide residential spaces, education, mentoring, and other support to help social enterprises grow stably, aiding the growth and leap of local social enterprises.
A support foundation has been established so that early-stage startups can gain competitiveness as social enterprises and continue to grow sustainably.
The city is promoting projects with the goal of discovering and nurturing more than 10 social economy enterprises annually, and this year achieved the result of bringing a total of 18 companies into social enterprises.
Additionally, to widely promote the social economy, the city trained specialized youth instructors and conducted social economy-related classes for students at four schools including Yulha Middle School last year, and seven schools including Jinyeong Middle School this year. This served as basic education to nurture social entrepreneurs and received much positive response.
