Two Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek Plant Employees Confirmed with COVID-19... "Semiconductor Production Continues Normally"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Two confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek campus.
According to Samsung Electronics on the 15th, two employees at the Pyeongtaek campus tested positive for COVID-19 that morning. The confirmed cases are employees working in Office Building 2 at the Pyeongtaek campus.
Earlier, one employee working in Office Building 2 at the Pyeongtaek campus tested positive late in the afternoon on the 13th. In response, Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek Campus closed the building on the 13th and 14th to conduct disinfection measures, and employees classified as close contacts underwent COVID-19 testing.
The two employees who tested positive on this day were among those classified as close contacts of the confirmed case on the 13th and had undergone COVID-19 testing. Samsung Electronics shared this information with the Pyeongtaek campus employees.
However, since disinfection measures were carried out on the 13th and 14th, the building was not closed on the 15th. Currently, employees except those under self-quarantine are commuting to work.
Samsung Electronics explained that the building in question is a separate space away from the semiconductor production line, so there is no issue with the semiconductor production line.
