Gangbuk-gu, Recruitment of Residents for 3rd and 4th Phase Artist Village Public Housing

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is recruiting residents for the 3rd and 4th phases of the ‘Ui Artist Village’ public housing from the 22nd to the 31st.
The Ui Artist Housing is a demand-tailored rental housing designed to provide activity spaces and residential stability for local cultural and artistic professionals.
A total of 20 households will be recruited, and applications can only be submitted in person at the Gangbuk-gu Office’s Culture and Sports Department.
The public housing being recruited this time is conveniently located near stations on the Ui New Line. The 3rd phase housing is located at 41, Samyang-ro 123ga-gil, near the 4.19 Democratic Cemetery Station.
The 4th phase housing is located at 21-17, Samyang-ro 163ga-gil, close to Bukhansan Ui Station. Both housing complexes are within a 10-minute walk from the stations. Each phase consists of one building (5 floors above ground) with 10 households each. The unit sizes are 31.4?32.76㎡ for the 3rd phase and 38.57?40.53㎡ for the 4th phase.
Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria. First, as of the recruitment announcement date (December 16, 2020), applicants must reside in the Seoul area, be at least 19 years old, and be cultural and artistic professionals under the Cultural Arts Promotion Act. Submission of an Artist Activity Certificate from the Korea Artist Welfare Foundation or certification documents from the relevant association is mandatory.
Additionally, all household members (including the applicant) must be members of a household without home ownership and meet income criteria of 70% or less of the previous year’s average monthly urban worker income, or asset criteria (for those with 50% or less income).
The rental deposit and monthly rent are determined based on the previous year’s average monthly urban worker income.
For the 3rd phase housing, the deposit ranges from 26.55 million to 28.95 million KRW, with monthly rent between 346,000 and 377,000 KRW.
For the 4th phase, the deposit ranges from 30.9 million to 32.55 million KRW, with monthly rent between 403,000 and 424,000 KRW.
The initial contract period is two years, and if eligibility is maintained, the contract can be renewed every two years, allowing a maximum residence period of up to 10 years.
Final selected applicants will be individually notified on March 8 of next year, and move-in will begin on April 5. For more details, check the announcement on the district office website’s news section or contact the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Department.
