Gwangju City Appoints Hwang Pungnyeon as 4th CEO of Gwangju Cultural Foundation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] On the 14th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, presented a letter of appointment to Hwang Pung-nyeon, the 4th CEO of the Gwangju Cultural Foundation.
The newly appointed CEO Hwang Pung-nyeon (56) graduated from Suncheon High School and Korea University with a degree in French Literature. He has worked as a reporter for Jeonnam Ilbo, editor-in-chief of Gwangju Dream, and a non-standing director of the Asia Culture Institute. He has also been active as a broadcaster and columnist.
In particular, since 2000, he has dedicated himself to publishing the magazine "Jeollado.com," which captures the life and simple language of Jeolla Province for 20 years, recording and promoting the diversity of regional culture and the value of the Gwangju community culture.
He has also compiled the roots of Jeolla culture into books such as "The Village Where Rice Flowers Bloom is Beautiful (2010)," "Pungnyeon Sikdam (2013)," and "Jeollado, The Aesthetics of Rusticness (2016)." As a cultural activist, he has actively planned and executed cultural projects such as the "Beautiful Jeollado Dialect Pride Contest," "Jeollado Exhibition in Paintings," and "Year-end Movie Viewing Party with Gwangju Theater."
The Gwangju City expects that the newly appointed CEO Hwang will contribute to the development of local culture and arts by communicating and cooperating with artists based on his accumulated experience and human network from various fields.
