Home-cooked Meals Rivaling Restaurants... CJ O Shopping's Multi-Oven and Juicer Sell Like Hotcakes
Increased Demand for Home-Cooked Meals Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] TV home shopping will expand its kitchen appliance lineup in December. This is because not only have HMR (Home Meal Replacement) sales surged due to COVID-19, but recently, demand for home-cooked meals has increased and recipe videos have become popular, leading to a rapid rise in home cooking enthusiasts.
According to CJ ENM O Shopping Division on the 11th, the "Riviera & Bar Air Fryer Multi Oven" broadcast on CJ O Shopping's "Kang Joo-eun's Good Life" attracted about 1 billion KRW in customer orders after just two broadcasts since its launch in June. The product has received over 1,000 customer reviews. This item features a large 24L capacity, allowing for everything from snacks like bread, pizza, and cookies to premium oven dishes such as meat and fish. It is designed with a 4-tier stacking structure so multiple dishes can be cooked simultaneously, and the transparent window allows continuous monitoring of the cooking process. On the broadcast scheduled for the 12th at 8:15 PM, it will be sold at 209,000 KRW with a 40,000 KRW discount, and customers will receive 8 stainless steel skewers for grilling and a 1.8L Riviera & Bar teapot as gifts.
Convenient kitchen appliances for home-cooked meals are also prepared. The "Vernon Very Good Pot" is an affordable multi-pressure cooker priced at 109,000 KRW, which can easily make dishes like samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and galbijjim (braised short ribs) with just one button. It is scheduled to be broadcast on the CJ O Shopping Plus channel on the 15th at 6:45 AM. The "Hurom Super Steam Pot" is a device that can cook various ingredients such as vegetables, meat, and seafood simply and healthily. It steams at a high temperature and pressure of 120 degrees Celsius, enhancing nutrient retention while deepening flavor. It is priced at 399,000 KRW, and a 50,000 KRW discount sale will be held only in January.
Customers who have recently become more interested in immunity and health will find the "Hurom Easy Juicer" ideal for extracting juice from vegetables and fruits. In a recent November broadcast, orders exceeding 500 million KRW were received within an hour, and since the launch of the 2020 new model in March this year, it has recorded about 18 billion KRW in orders on CJ O Shopping alone, demonstrating its popularity. The wide feeding chute allows ingredients to be inserted without separate preparation, and the filter mesh is detachable for easy cleaning. It has won design awards at both overseas and domestic exhibitions. On the broadcast scheduled for the 19th at 7:20 AM, a 36-month interest-free installment plan and a massager will be offered, and a 30,000 KRW discount will be applied for lump-sum purchases, making the price 429,000 KRW.
Hong Kyung-il, team leader of CJ ENM O Shopping Division, said, "Among customers finding joy in the COVID-19 stay-at-home lifestyle, the number of those enjoying cooking as a hobby is increasing," adding, "We plan to discover and introduce kitchen appliances that are highly practical in daily life with simple usage and various functionalities for 'Yorini' (a portmanteau of 'cooking' and 'children') customers."
