On the 10th, a plane tree (Platanus) that has stood beside citizens for over 50 years along the stone wall road near Daehanmun Gate in Deoksugung, Jung-gu, Seoul, is at risk of being cut down. This is because the Seoul Metropolitan Government, having started the construction of the new Gwanghwamun Plaza, is carrying out new landscaping in line with cultural heritage scenery and pedestrian environment improvements. The plane tree provides shade to citizens and functions to reduce urban heat island effects and fine dust. A banner with the phrase "We are watching, do not cut" is wrapped around the plane tree. / Reporter Moon Honam munonam@
