"Ski Resorts, Ice Rinks, and Snow Sledding Parks Must Follow Quarantine Guidelines"
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Designates Winter Sports Facilities as General Management Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The government is strengthening quarantine guidelines for winter sports facilities such as ski resorts, ice rinks, and sledding parks to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 9th that, in consultation with quarantine authorities, winter sports facilities such as ski resorts, ice rinks, and sledding parks will be designated as general management facilities, and social distancing guidelines to be followed at these winter sports facilities will be prepared and distributed.
Once designated as general management facilities, winter sports facilities such as ski resorts, ice rinks, and sledding parks must follow quarantine guidelines including social distancing, similar to the current 14 types of facilities such as performance halls, movie theaters, and indoor sports facilities.
For indoor facilities like ice rinks, ▲ at Level 1, the number of people is limited to one person per 4㎡ of facility area ▲ at Level 2, operations must stop after 9 p.m. ▲ from Level 2.5, gatherings are prohibited.
For outdoor facilities like ski resorts, ▲ at Level 1, three basic quarantine rules are mandatory ▲ at Level 1.5, entry is limited to half of the facility’s capacity ▲ at Level 2, the number of people is limited to one-third of the capacity ▲ at Level 2.5, operations are prohibited after 9 p.m. ▲ from Level 3, gatherings are prohibited.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism prepared the winter sports quarantine guidelines reflecting characteristics such as crowding of family units and clubs, equipment rentals, gondola and lift boarding, and congestion at slope entrances. The main points of the guidelines are ▲ maintaining social distancing and wearing masks at gondola and lift boarding entrances, sledding slope entrances, and season pass sales entrances ▲ using personal items for clothing and equipment that come into contact with the body, such as ski suits, ski equipment, skates, and goggles ▲ visiting in family units or small groups and refraining from large group visits such as clubs or group meetings ▲ avoiding group gatherings such as dinners after visiting ski resorts, ice rinks, and sledding parks and going home immediately.
