CJ O Shopping's 'Gyetan Nal' Event Surpasses 1 Million Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] With the rapid increase in non-face-to-face consumption due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), CJ ENM O Shopping recorded its highest weekend sales of the year.
According to CJ ENM O Shopping Division on the 9th, more than 1 million customer orders were placed in the first week (12/1~12/6) of the ‘2020 Gye-tan-nal’ event. During the weekend (12/5~12/6) alone, 330,000 orders were received, marking the highest weekend sales of the year.
‘Gye-tan-nal’ is CJ O Shopping’s biggest annual event offering benefits such as up to 50% reward points, discounted sales, coupon issuance, and instant card discounts. In particular, CJmall’s ‘Half-Price Time Deal,’ which provides 50% reward points on purchase amounts, has gained high popularity to the extent that word of mouth has spread through online cafes and communities.
CJ O Shopping explained that due to the recent upgrade to social distancing level 2.5, they anticipated consumer demand to focus on ‘stay-at-home healing’ product categories, ‘compensatory shopping’ product categories, and year-end and New Year gift product categories, and their preparations led to high customer response.
With the strengthening of distancing policies and increased time spent at home, sales of kitchenware and home appliances were high. The ‘LG CordZero Vacuum Cleaner’ received about 2,000 customer orders in each of the two broadcasts on the 6th, and the ‘AMT Frying Pan Full Set’ sold on the Choi Hwajeong Show on the 2nd and the ‘Portmeirion 8-Person Full Set’ sold on Kang Joo-eun’s Good Life on the 5th achieved over 150% of their sales targets.
The ‘Taylor Scents Large Capacity Diffuser,’ popular as a Christmas gift, was so well received that about 3,000 prepared units were sold out within 17 minutes during the broadcast on the 8th. Fashion and accessories products were also popular. On the broadcast on the 1st, customer response continued from luxury brands such as Gucci and Prada to CJ O Shopping exclusive brands like The Edge and Karl Lagerfeld, with total order amounts exceeding 3.5 billion KRW.
The ‘2020 Gye-tan-nal’ event will continue until the 13th. CJmall’s ‘Half-Price Time Deal’ sells food products that can be easily cooked at home, and 50% of the final payment amount is returned as reward points. Popular home appliances are sold at discounted prices on TV broadcast products, and up to 20% reward points are provided when purchasing through the CJmall app.
