Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants Holds 'Symposium on Trends and Countermeasures in Non-Financial Reporting'
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 9th that it will jointly hold an online symposium on "Trends and Countermeasures in Non-Financial Reporting" with the Korean Accounting Standards Board and the Korea Corporate Governance Service on the 14th.
This symposium is a forum to discuss recent trends in non-financial reporting and how stakeholders such as companies and the accounting industry should respond to these trends. Following the opening remarks by Chairman Kim Young-sik, congratulatory speeches will be delivered by Joo In-ki, former president of the International Federation of Accountants, and Benjamin Matthews, Economic Officer at the British Embassy in Korea.
In the keynote presentations, Yoon Jin-soo, Head of the ESG Business Division at the Korea Corporate Governance Service, will discuss domestic and international trends in non-financial reporting, and Kim Jeong-nam, a member of the Non-Financial Reporting Task Force of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (partner at Samjong KPMG), will present on corporate non-financial reporting trends and disclosure issues. Following this, Erkki Liikanen, Chair of the IFRS Foundation Board, will introduce the IFRS Foundation’s consultation document on sustainability reporting via video, and Kim Jae-ho, Team Leader of Standards Team 2 at the Korean Accounting Standards Board, will present on the trend toward the unification of international standards for non-financial reporting.

The panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Kwak Soo-geun of Seoul National University, a board member of the IFRS Foundation, and will include Kim Sun-moon, Head of Corporate Accounting Team at the Financial Services Commission; Han Jong-su, Professor at Ewha Womans University; Yoo Jung-min, Quality Control Director at Gwanggyo Accounting Corporation; Kang Dong-su, Vice President of the SV Promotion Team at SK SUPEX Council; Kim Dong-yang, Analyst at NH Investment & Securities; and Lee Dong-seop, Acting Head of the Responsible Investment Office at the National Pension Service Fund Management Headquarters.
