Dongmyung University announced on the 7th that five universities in the Busan area will establish and operate a "Liberal Arts-Centered Shared University."
On December 4th at 11 a.m., the five universities in the Busan area signed an agreement in the graduate seminar room of Dongmyung University to share know-how on the development and operation evaluation of each university's liberal arts curriculum, as well as human and material resources.
These universities agreed to collaborate jointly to operate the liberal arts-centered shared university with the aim of improving the quality of liberal arts education and strengthening student capabilities.
The five liberal arts colleges in the Busan area?Dongmyung University, Busan Catholic University, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Silla University, and Yeungsan University?agreed to promote ▲ sharing each university's existing strengths in liberal arts education and strengthening cooperation for the development and operation of new joint liberal arts curriculum courses, ▲ joint research to establish strategies for the development of liberal arts curricula, and ▲ holding seminars to share the achievements of liberal arts education.
The five universities will develop a "Joint Liberal Arts Degree Program" and explore operational plans.
This agreement signifies overcoming the resource limitations faced by local small and medium-sized universities from the perspective of openness and sharing, and actively responding to the revolutionary changes needed in liberal arts education in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
It is expected that the synergy effect among universities will increase further once the "Busan City-Busan Area Shared University Platform" system, hosted by Busan City and participated in by the five universities, is established.
This agreement was carried out with the consensus of participating university deans and department heads following the proposal of Gam Young-hee, Dean of the Undergraduate Liberal Arts College at Dongmyung University.

The agreement was attended by the liberal arts education deans and department heads of the five universities in the Busan area, including Gam Young-hee, Dean of the Undergraduate Liberal Arts College at Dongmyung University; Choi Jeong-mi, Head of the Department of Character and Liberal Arts at Busan Catholic University; Jeong Yoon-cheol, Dean of the Man-o Liberal Arts College at Busan University of Foreign Studies; Lee Eun-hwa, Dean of the Liberal Arts Curriculum College at Silla University; and Park Hyun-kyung, Dean of the Seongsim Liberal Arts College at Yeungsan University.
