[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Women and Youth Division of the Dongbu Police Station in Gwangju announced on the 4th that they conducted a campaign due to concerns about deviant and criminal behaviors such as drinking, smoking, and fraudulent use of IDs by youths who were relieved from tension after the 2021 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) ended around Chungjang-ro area in Dong-gu.
A total of about 30 participants, including Dong-gu Office, Dongbu Education Support Office, and Patrol Moms, took part in this campaign. They carried out preventive patrols in major youth gathering areas to correct the relaxed atmosphere and prevent various crimes such as student delinquency, deviant behavior, and group fights, while promoting the eradication and prevention of school violence.
Additionally, related organizations such as Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth Shelter, Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, Out-of-School Youth Support Center, and Healthy Family & Multicultural Family Support Center identified and intervened early with youths outside of home and school who are in blind spots due to environmental vulnerabilities, guiding them to return home.
Furthermore, to improve social awareness and establish a foundation for social interest and a safe environment, promotional booths were set up to operate various programs including ▲ psychological tests and counseling ▲ provision of COVID-19 hygiene supplies and promotional materials ▲ youth perception surveys, and to connect youths to protective facilities such as youth shelters and child welfare facilities.
