Kimcheon-si Reports 30 New COVID-19 Cases in Half a Month, Urges Residents to Refrain from Gatherings and Events

On that day, Kim Dae-gyun, Director of the Kimcheon City Health Center (Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Controller), who stood in for Mayor Kim Chung-seop, held an emergency briefing and appealed, "Please refrain from various year-end and New Year gatherings, events, and visits to multi-use facilities."
In the Kimcheon area, since a confirmed case occurred at a PC room near Kimcheon University on the 19th of last month, the number of confirmed cases due to n-th generation infections has reached 20.
Separately, on the 2nd, following the confirmation of a mother and daughter who are examinees, seven additional confirmed cases were found through contact testing on the 3rd and 4th, showing an unusual spread trend with more than 30 COVID-19 patients occurring in the past two weeks. As of 3 PM on the 4th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Kimcheon is 63, including the seven cases on that day.
Accordingly, Kimcheon City has temporarily closed 522 senior citizen centers in the area, as well as community welfare centers, village halls, and city-operated national sports centers and badminton courts starting from the 3rd.

Director Kim Dae-gyun of the Health Center said, "While strengthening monitoring of facilities vulnerable to group infections, we are establishing a meticulous quarantine system to prevent the spread and occurrence of COVID-19 through measures such as record-keeping and temperature checks," and urged, "If you have suspicious symptoms, please be sure to contact the Health Center's respiratory dedicated clinic for consultation."
