Gwangju Dong-gu, Awarded for Revitalizing Traditional Markets with Namgwangju Market Manager
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 4th that it has been selected as an excellent 'local government' in the traditional market revitalization merit organization category in 2020, and Namgwang Market was selected as an excellent 'market,' receiving a commendation from the Minister of SMEs and Startups.
Namgwang Market received favorable evaluations in revitalizing traditional markets by preparing for the With-Corona era through non-face-to-face services and online sales promotion support measures such as ▲opening a 'Smart Store,' ▲joining the 'Neighborhood Market Shopping,' and ▲promoting 'Live Commerce' sales events.
Earlier, Dong-gu secured an additional total project budget of 1 billion KRW over two years as Namgwang Market was reselected as a 'Cultural Tourism Market' in the '2021 Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Support' project contest hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Through this, next year, the plan is to strengthen specialized education on smart platforms to activate non-face-to-face services and expand the number of participating stores in the Smart Store.
