On this day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong emphasized this in his opening remarks at the '2nd Future Strategy Conference,' jointly hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the National Assembly Future Institute, and the Korea Development Institute (KDI).
The Future Strategy Conference is a forum established last year to share awareness and vision on future issues among the executive branch, legislative branch, and future research experts. This year, it is being held via online live broadcast.
At this event, Deputy Prime Minister Hong stressed the necessity of 'four changes and transitions' that must be pursued to build an economic society with resilience in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era: ▲the great shift to a digital and green economy ▲nurturing growth engines to lead the future ▲strengthening a warm and inclusive society ▲normalizing international cooperation weakened by COVID-19. He said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a reassessment of the impact and urgency of responding to the climate change crisis, drawing the world's attention to the transition to an eco-friendly economy. The Korean government also aims to enhance the overall competitiveness and productivity of our economy based on D.N.A (Data, Network, Artificial Intelligence) through the Korean New Deal comprehensive plan, including building a data dam and establishing an intelligent government."
Yeom Jae-ho, Professor Emeritus at Korea University (former President of Korea University), delivered the keynote speech on 'Korea's Future in the New Normal Era.' Professor Yeom suggested, "We must prepare for the future with new ideas by mobilizing infinite imagination rather than solving social issues such as urban development, research and development (R&D) investment, and education in the old ways. All social organizations, including government, corporations, and universities, should act as excellent social innovators to create creative social systems and policies."
