The upgrade work is part of the concentrated electrical equipment improvement project for seven metropolitan lines (Bundang, Ilsan, Gwacheon, Gyeongin, Gyeongbu, Ansan, and Gyeongwon Lines) under the mid-to-long-term railway facility improvement investment plan (2018?2022), aiming for completion in 2022.
The Rail Network Authority plans to replace aging electrical equipment to enhance power quality in the metropolitan subway sections and facilitate seamless operation linkage between the Ansan Line and Line 4.
Additionally, construction for the remaining four lines, including the Gyeongin Line, will be commissioned next year to continuously promote the concentrated improvement project for metropolitan subways. The Bundang and Ilsan Lines were already prioritized and commissioned for construction in the first half of this year.
