Yangcheon-gu to Conduct 'Special Crackdown' on PC Rooms and Entertainment Bars Until Year-End After College Entrance Exam
Special Inspections of 270 Entertainment Venues Including Bars and Pubs from the Day of the College Scholastic Ability Test to Year-End... PC Rooms, Coin Karaoke Rooms, and Movie Theaters Also Subject to Special Inspections; Strict Measures Such as Business Suspension or Fines for Violations
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will conduct intensive inspections from the 3rd to the 31st, immediately after the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), targeting various facilities expected to be heavily used by examinees after the exam to ensure compliance with COVID-19 quarantine rules and to crack down on illegal business activities.
During the special inspection period, the district will conduct spot checks on compliance with quarantine rules by industry at 81 cultural distribution establishments (55 PC rooms, 24 coin karaoke rooms, 2 movie theaters) and 270 food and beverage service establishments such as pubs and entertainment bars.
In particular, for food and beverage service establishments, additional inspections will be carried out to check for violations such as youth entry or employment prohibition, illegal alcohol sales, and violations of the Food Sanitation Act including kitchen cleanliness and expired products.
Continuous inspections will be conducted from after the CSAT until the end of the year. For the 270 food and beverage service establishments, public officials in charge of food safety and for the 81 cultural distribution establishments, public officials responsible for cultural and sports facilities will form inspection teams of two people each to conduct spot checks.
Especially for cultural distribution establishments, joint inspections will be conducted twice during the period in cooperation with the Gangseo Yangcheon Office of Education.
If intentional serious violations are detected as a result of the inspections, strong measures such as business suspension or fines will be imposed.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “This year, since the CSAT is held during the COVID-19 outbreak period, we plan to conduct more thorough guidance and inspections than usual on illegal business activities and compliance with quarantine rules at youth-harmful establishments.” He added, “In particular, we ask food and beverage service business owners to post notices clearly visible to customers stating that alcohol will not be provided to youth and to carefully check IDs, strictly adhering to business operator compliance requirements. We also urge business owners of cultural distribution establishments such as PC rooms to strictly follow industry-specific quarantine rules.”
