Damyang-gun Launches Campaign for the 33rd World AIDS Day
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Jeonnam Damyang-gun (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 2nd that it conducted an 'AIDS Prevention and Awareness Campaign' targeting local residents at Damyang-eup Market in commemoration of the 33rd World AIDS Day.
This campaign aimed to correct the prejudice of county residents against AIDS and promoted information and prevention methods about AIDS by distributing leaflets and promotional materials containing content such as understanding AIDS correctly, routes of AIDS infection, and testing methods.
AIDS is a disease in which immunity is acquiredly weakened due to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and it can be sufficiently prevented through proper condom use and early testing.
Also, with the introduction of effective treatments, it has become a chronic disease that allows people to live healthily if they receive continuous treatment, making voluntary testing and early treatment more important than anything else.
The public health center offers free anonymous testing.
