Inauguration Ceremony Preparations Announced with Reduced Contact
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The inauguration preparation committee for U.S. President-elect Joe Biden has begun its activities.
On the 30th (local time), according to U.S. media including The Washington Post (WP), Biden appointed Tony Allen, president of Delaware State University, as the chairman of the presidential inauguration committee.
Chairman Allen is a longtime close aide who served as a special advisor and speechwriter during Biden's tenure as a U.S. Senator in the 1990s.
In a statement released that day, Chairman Allen said, "This inauguration will look different amid the pandemic, but we will honor the American inauguration tradition and involve Americans nationwide."
WP reported that this year's event will be significantly different from previous inaugurations due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and gatherings of crowds will be considerably limited.
