Cultural Heritage Administration Hosts International Symposium on Digital Heritage
Digital Transformation, What Comes Next: Expanding the Realm of Digital Heritage
The Cultural Heritage Administration, together with the Digital Heritage Lab at the Graduate School of Culture Technology, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), will hold an international symposium on digital heritage from the 3rd to the 4th of next month at the auditorium of the National Palace Museum of Korea. The theme is "Digital Transformation, What’s Next: Expanding the Realm of Digital Heritage." The symposium will share cases of recording, preserving, managing, interpreting, sharing, and utilizing cultural heritage through digital technology and explore ways to advance these efforts. Sixteen experts from nine countries will present and discuss topics including historical monuments and museums, connecting the value of cultural heritage and surrounding environments, natural heritage, and marine archaeology. Participants include Woo Untak, head of the Graduate School of Culture Technology at KAIST; Dimitrios Skarlatos, professor at Cyprus University of Technology; Jeong Seungho, curator at the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage; Dmitry Boyakin, director of the Central Asian Studies Institute in Uzbekistan; and Pierre Allo, professor at the University of Li?ge in Belgium. Due to the spread of COVID-19, the event will be held as a webinar (online seminar) and will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel with simultaneous interpretation in Korean and English.
