Gori Unit 1 Decommissioning Public Hearing Postponed Due to COVID-19 Spread
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Suspends Public Hearing Schedule in Gijang-gun for 'Gori Unit 1 Final Decommissioning Plan Draft'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The public hearing on the decommissioning plan for Gori Unit 1 has been postponed due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (President Jeong Jae-hoon) announced on the 28th that it has decided to postpone the public hearing in Gijang-gun, Busan, regarding the draft final decommissioning plan for Gori Unit 1.
KHNP conducted a 60-day public review of the draft final decommissioning plan from July 1 to August 29, and based on the residents' opinions submitted during this period, held public hearings starting on November 20 at BEXCO in Busan, on the 23rd at Jongha Gymnasium in Ulsan, and on the 25th at the Administrative Welfare Center in Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun.
However, the public hearing scheduled for the 30th at the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters PR Center in Gijang-gun was deemed inappropriate to hold on that date due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and changes in Busan City's social distancing administrative orders, and thus has been postponed.
