Korea Railroad Prepares Measures to Minimize Customer Inconvenience Amid Union Slowdown
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Korea Railroad Corporation announced on the 27th that due to the nationwide railway labor union's work stoppage, disruptions in train operations are expected, and measures are being taken to minimize customer inconvenience.
They plan to mobilize all emergency standby trains and vehicle maintenance support personnel for urgent deployment in case of delays, and additionally deploy station guidance staff to minimize inconvenience for train users.
During the work stoppage period, refund (cancellation) and change fees for trains will be waived.
To ensure there are no issues with COVID-19 prevention, personnel will also be reinforced for cabin disinfection operations conducted at departure and arrival stations.
Korea Railroad Corporation urged passengers to check train operation status in advance through the mobile app ‘KORAIL Talk’ or the official website during the work stoppage period.

Meanwhile, through a staff statement from President Son Byung-seok, Korea Railroad stated, “The COVID-19 spread situation is very severe, and with the College Scholastic Ability Test just a week away, the work stoppage only amplifies public anxiety and increases distrust in railway safety and quarantine measures,” adding, “We ask for wise judgment so that everyone can use the railway comfortably and safely,” urging restraint from the work stoppage.
