Lotte Group's Food Sector Leader 'Lee Young-gu Food BU Head'... '33-Year Lotte Veteran' Known as Sales Expert
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte has appointed Lee Young-gu (58) as the new head of the Food BU to lead the group's food sector.
On the 26th, Lotte Group announced that Lee Young-gu, CEO of Lotte Chilsung Beverage, has been promoted to president and appointed as the new head of the Food BU.
Lee Young-gu, a '33-year Lotte man' who joined Lotte Chilsung's logistics planning team in 1987, is known within Lotte Group as a sales expert. He has worked at Lotte Aluminum and Lotte Group's Policy Headquarters, and has served as CEO of Lotte Chilsung Beverage since 2017.
Until 2019, Lotte Chilsung separated its beverage and liquor business divisions and operated with separate CEOs, but at the end of that year, it returned to an integrated CEO system after three years, appointing Lee Young-gu as the integrated CEO.
Lotte Chilsung's liquor division faced difficulties amid the Japanese boycott movement issue. However, the sales growth in the beverage division led by Lee Young-gu offset the liquor division's slump, and Lotte Chilsung's overall performance continued to soar.
This year, the third-quarter sales of Lotte Chilsung's liquor division, led by Lee Young-gu, increased by 5.0% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit also turned positive due to reduced promotional expenses. Based on these achievements, Lotte is understood to have selected Lee Young-gu as the new head of the Food BU.
Meanwhile, Lee Young-ho, the former head of Lotte Group's food sector Food BU, retired from the frontline for the sake of his juniors. The new CEO of Lotte Chilsung Beverage is Park Yoon-gi, 50, head of the Management Strategy Division, who has been promoted to executive director.
